Monte Carlo Study of the Pyrochlore Double-Exchange Model –Frustration Effects in Molybdenum Pyrochlore Oxides–

چکیده
where t is the transfer integral for nearest-neighbor sites hiji on the pyrochlore lattice, JH represents the Hund’s-rule coupling between the itinerant electron spin ~si and the localized spin ~ Si, while JAF is the super-exchange antiferromagnetic interaction between the neighboring localized spins. The first two terms induce the double-exchange ferromagnetic interactions through the kinetic motion of electrons, which compete with the third term. Antiferromagnetic interactions create frustration effects on the pyrochlore lattice. Details of the Monte Carlo calculations are given in Ref. [2]. The study is motivated by the experimental investigations of molybdenum pyrochlore oxides R2Mo2O7 which show an interesting competition between ferromagnetic metal and spin-glass insulator by changing the rear-earth element R [3, 4]. Recent experiments by applying external pressure revealed some new aspects on the phase competition. In particular, it was shown that the ferromagnetic metal turns into a peculiar diffusive metal under pressure, with showing an intervening spin-glass metallic state [5]. This is surprising because in many transition metal compounds the chemical pressure by

Ferromagnetic transition in the double - exchange model on the pyrochlore lattice
The double-exchange model, which has been extensively studied in the context of colossal magneto-resistance in perovskite manganese oxides, is known to exhibit a ferromagnetic metallic state at low temperatures because of the interplay between localized moments and itinerant electrons through the Hund’s-rule coupling. Here we investigate numerically the ferromagnetic transition in the double-ex...
متن کاملMonte Carlo study of half–magnetization plateau and magnetic phase diagram in pyrochlore antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model
The antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model on a pyrochlore lattice under external magnetic field is studied by classical Monte Carlo simulation. The model includes bilinear and biquadratic interactions; the latter effectively describes the coupling to lattice distortions. The magnetization process shows a half–magnetization plateau at low temperatures, accompanied with strong suppression of the mag...
متن کاملOrbital ordering and one-dimensional magnetic correlation in vanadium spinel oxides AV2O4 (A= Zn, Mg, or Cd)
We present our theoretical results on the mechanism of two transitions in vanadium spinel oxides AV2O4 (A=Zn, Mg, or Cd) in which magnetic V cations constitute a geometrically-frustrated pyrochlore structure. We have derived an effective spin-orbital-lattice coupled model in the strong correlation limit of the multiorbital Hubbard model, and applied Monte Carlo simulation to the model. The resu...
متن کاملInterplay of dilution and magnetic field in the nearest-neighbor spin-ice model on the pyrochlore lattice
We study the magnetic field effects on the diluted spin-ice materials using the replica-exchange Monte Carlo simulation. We observe five plateaus in the magnetization curve of the diluted nearestneighbor spin-ice model on the pyrochlore lattice when a magnetic field is applied in the [111] direction. This is in contrast to the case of the pure model with two plateaus. The origin of five plateau...

Spin correlation in kagomé ice state: neutron scattering study of the dipolar spin ice Dy 2 Ti 2 O 7 under magnetic field along [111] Abstract We have investigated the kagomé ice state in the frustrated pyrochlore oxide Dy 2 Ti 2 O 7 under magnetic field along a [111] axis. Spin correlations have been measured by neutron scattering and analyzed by Monte-Carlo simulation. The kagomé ice state, w...
